One of the lowest points for me at technology events is seeing the main attraction being a small robot dog or humanoid that can simply be bought from suppliers in Yiwu.
What makes it worse is when, after the event, the robot is packed away instead of being dismantled, studied, modified, and used as a learning platform for engineers and students.
If we only buy, demonstrate, photograph, and store technology, we are not building capability. We are just buying expensive toys. Teknologi adoption is not the same as technology capability.
